Every bereavement can be difficult and painful.
But the loss of a twin as a result of drug or alcohol use brings unique complications and pain.
There is a greater awareness now of the significance of twin loss than there used to be and as a consequence there are organisations and resources which may help.
The Lone Twin Network
The Lone Twin Network is a voluntary support group run by and for lone twins, over the age of 18, whose loss has occurred at or around birth, in childhood or during adulthood.
